DOMINION TOURNAMENT. NEWTOWN WINS CHAMPIONSHIP. By Telegrapli.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night, The final rinks for the championship were played to-day and attracted a large concourse of spectators. The rinks were: —C. Davis, A. Davies, A. Duff, .T. Laughton (si 1!); v. Christchurch —J. H. Seager, ■). Caughley, W. S. Atkinson, E. Torrance (s), IS. Details of the scores were: —First head: Newtown 0, Christchurch 5; 2nd, ' I—s; 3rd, 1—0; 4th, 1—!); sth, 1—10; 6th, 2—10; 7th, (bowls moved); Stli, 4n-10; 9th, 5—10; lOtli, (i—10; 11 til, 0—11; 12th, S—11; 13th, 9—11; 14th, U ; all: 15th, 11—15: 10th, 11—10; 17th, 11—17; ISth, 15—17; 19th, 17-all. With two heads to go,, and an even game, interest was intensified. Davies came to light and left two for Newtown. Caugliley made a good attempt which just passed the scoring bowl by a fraction, and with his second drew a yard in front of Atkinson's and just missed its object, Duff drawing forth loud applause by drawing the shot itself. With three shots against them Ohristchurch were on their mettle. Torrance drew a beautiful second shot which just failed scoring by a fraction, but with his second, midst great excitement, he rolled in a lovely scoring shot, and he was cheered for his fine effort, the score being K—l7 in favor of Christchurch. In°the final head, Seager kept up hia reputation by finishing a few inches behind kitty. ' Caughley was short, but his bowl acted as a baulk. He also I failed with his second shot. Davies with his second got. kitty, which shot to the left. Atkinson, drew a nice shot, which Duff promoted slightly, and the question was raised if the bowl was within bounds. A line was run over and the bowl was adjudged out. With his second he was pacey, and Duff also followed suit. Torrance's first- was out of bounds, and with his second lie proved just too strong, and Newtown was left with two points and won the game by 10 ito IS, Laughton not playing his second bowl. At the conclusion of the game, the president of the Council (Mr. M. F. Harnett, presented Laughton (the skip of the 'winning rink) with the bowling banner, a handsome piece of work given by the ladies of Dunediii on the occasion of the tournament held at Dunedin in 1914. Three rinks from the Inglewood club journeyed to Stratford on Saturday, and after a most enjoyable game, Stratford proved victorious by (17 points to 40.
