SYNDICALISM DENOUNCED. Melbourne, Jan. 1-1. Mr. Hughes, at a recruiting meeting, passionately denounced the foul parasites who attached themselves to the I'itals of the Labor Party. "There is," he said, "between syndicalism and unionism a gulf as wide as hell. In the name of unionism and laborism I pass them out like the devils out of the, swine." Referring to the union enlistments, Mr. Hughes stated that the waterside workers had sent 4000 men and the Australian Workers' Union 20,000 men. RECRUITING APPEAL REJECTED. Melbourne, Jan. 15. Out of 3401 recruiting replies received in the metropolitan area there are 2905 refusals to enlist. NURSE CAVELL MEMORIAL. Sydney, Jan. 15. It is proposed to raise a memorial to the memory of Nurse Cavell, which will take the form of a rest home for nurses. COUNTRY CAMPS. - Sydney, Jan. 15. Military decentralisation continues, and many country camps are hieing opened. ENEMY SHAREHOLDERS TO SELL OUT. Melbourne, Jan. 15. Mr. Hughes has announced that companies incorporated in Australia having naturalised or unnaturalized enemy aliens holding shares will receive three months in which such sharing must be discontinued. No exceptions will be allowed except by permission of the Attorney-General. In future the transr fer of shares to enemy aliens will not be allowed. Similarly the transfer of land will not be allowed. GREEKS PETITION TO SERVE. Sydney, Jan. 15. Greeks arc petitioning for permission to form a company to serve with the expeditionary fane.
