TURKEY
TO OUST THE GERMANS. PLOT DISCOVERED. A CITY DIVIDED. Received Jan. 10, of> p.m. Constantinople, Jan. 15. The German secret police have discovered a vast revolutionary plot to overthrow the Government and expel the Germans. J Numerous arrests have bcten made, and many Turkish officers are compromised. The police have been doubled, and Constantinople has been transformed into a centre of espionage, which paralyses commercial and private life. THE BAD MAN WANTS REST. GERMAN CHAGRIN. Received Jan. 16, 11 p.m. Salonika, Jan. 10. Now that Gallipoli is abandoned, anil Constantinople is not threatened directly the Germans are chagrined to find that many influential Turks are actively opposing any offensive, arguing that' Turkey greatly needs rest. It is pointed out that though considerable forces of Turks Lave been sent to Palestine the season for an attack oa the Canal h getting rather late
