Torrance, 19, beat Newton, W. Wylie, 17; Ponsonby, 11. Walker, 25, beat Otago, C. R. Smith, 18; Waimate, T. W. Laing, 17, beat Kaikorai, W. Allnutt 9; United, J. Woolf, 23, beat Wellington, E. L. Hill, 13. Second round:—Christehureh, R. Torrance, 21, beat iPonsonby, M. Walker, 16; Newton, J. Laughton, 20, beat Canterbury, J. A. Redpath, 8; Roslyn. E. Fountain, 30, beat Canterbury, R, Borland, 20; Waimate, T. M. Laing, 15, beat United, I. Woolf, 13. Semi-final:—Christehureh, E. Torrance. 22, beat Waimate, T. M. Laing, 12; Newton, ,T. Laughton. 20, beat Roslyn, E. Fountain. 13. This was Fountain's first defeat in the tournament. The final will be played on Saturday afternoon. A match was also played to-day between teams representing the North and South Islands, the "North Island winning by 339 to 2GO.
BANNER MATCH. INGLE WOOD v. NEW PLYMOUTH. On the New Plymouth Club's green yesterday afternoon Inglewood signally failed to annex the Taranaki Banner from the holder.?, being defeated by 22 points. At only one rink out of four were the visitors able to secure the major points, while at the other three rinks New Plymouth had a substantial lead. Morey's team went down badly to Pereival. They failed to score at all until the eighth head, and iPercival maintained a good lead to the close. A. K. Smart and Wilson had a ding-dong game up to the eleventh head, when the score was Smart 10. Wilson 9, but Smart then got H. Wilson followed with a 3 and a 2. From then to the close Smart kept the advantage. The contest between Hall and Spurdle was all in favor of the former. A feature of this game was the scoring by Hall of two fives (on the seventh and ninth heads), Spurdle notching a five on the sixth head. H. Smart also proved far superior to his opponent (Sutherland). He took the lead from the start and forged ahead right through the game. 'Sutherland managed to secure four on the twentieth head, and this improved the aspect of his total. In the aggregate New Plymouth scored 91 and Inglewood Of).
