AMPLE FOOD SUPPLIES. WILL NOT BE STARVED. Received Jan. 13, 5.5 p.m. Amsterdam, Jan. 12. Hot Delboueck, in the Reichstag, stated that Germany's food products will last till next harvest. The Food Supplies Committee's report states that Germany will not permit herself to be starved, and v.' ' end the war before a complete is obtained. Tlerr Licbknecht has failed io ascertain information as to the treatment of inhabitants in occupied districts, and has finally left, as a protest.
MILITARY CRITIC,
DISCUSSES BRITISH COMPULSION. Times and Sydney Sun Services. London, Jan. 12. General Gaedke, the great military critic, writes to the Vorwarts warning people not to heed the press assertions that English compulsion is intended to bluff the Allies. The surest proof otherwise is that Mr. Lloyd George has staked the whole of his political future and his great popularity on compulsion. The British are determined to light to the bitter end. Discussing the military objections to new troops which are short of officers, General Gaedke asks where were the preliminary formations of the Australasian and Canadian levies. Within limitations masses were weapons which made a good substitute for quality. The Australians, who made such a poor appearance in Egypt, were unable to storm the strong Turkish positions at Gallipoli, hut did duty for months, maintaining themselves suspended between the rocks and the waters. I'd vis, .Tun. 12. The Geneva cortf'.spondent of the iPctit Joumnl says it is rumored in official circles in Berlin that the Kaiser was in a deplorable humor before his illness. He was angry because General Lyncher and Admiral Tirpitc had blundered, affirming that Russia would accept the German ultimatum and that the English would not fight.
