OCTLtS'E OF THE PROFOSAJ* RADGES TO ©E INTRODUCED. ji \ x By Telegraph.—Press Afiociatiw. ■Wellington, Last Night, At a meeting of the Reeftilting Board, hold on Monday, and presided over by. the Prime Minister, the scheme 0* recruiting to enable the Dominion to fuHll its "obligations to the Imperial Government during the present year was under consideration. An outline of the scheme as adopted by the Board has now bc«n issued by the Prime Minister.
The scheme provides for the duties of the Recruiting' Board, and the organisation .and duties of recruiting coirtmittees in various parts, of the Dominion. All important feature of the scheme is the decision to issue badges to thoBC who attest. Members of the Board believe Hint the wearing of those badgis *ri)l act as' a great help to the recruiting inovc,mcnt. '
The necessary detailed instructing to give effect to the scheme are now Jieing prepared, and will in due courts ba issued to recruiting committees. After dealing with tlieA duties, etc., of the Board, as already |>ublished, the sditffle refers to the district work and.organiw* tion of recruiting committees. i 1. It is definitely laid down that no person engaged in personal canvass shall: be a man himself eligible for service nn- j less he has enlisted. Group recruiting j committees to ascertain from officers what men have not been approached in their locality, and also to ascertain the names of men who have apparently no good excuse for declining to volunteer, and, further, to ensure that' personal ap-; peal is made by a person likely to have the greatest influence over a possible re« emit. Tt has been decided that the system] of ..badges shall be instituted in appropriate colors to he issued: fa) -To-thoM who have attested and are waiting to be called up; (1>) to those who have en«i listed, but who may be rejected' asj physically unfit or on other grounds; (cj to those who have enlisted, but who] may afterwards be exempted for special reasons; (d) to members of the ExniyH. tjonary Force who have returned to tha Dominion from active service. HeaiVy penalties will he provided, for false' , wearing badges. *
