The s.s.yLiniei-;ck arrived in the Roadstead last Wednesday morning, coining direct from Sydney, and sails for Wangamii this evening, having taken in 10 barge loads of frozen meat consisting of: 5020 quarters beef, 377") carcases mutton, 3783 carcases lamb, 42 carcases pork, 407 pieces veal, 571 sacks boned beef, ">S sacks frozen sundries and 587 boxes frozen sundries. The Waitara Seaside and Improvement Society's openiny day is fixed for Thursday next, the 13th. The Committee are drawing out an attractive programme which favored with a fine day should entice a large attendance from town and country. Captain W. T. Joli, who is leaving Wellington to-day with the oth Reinforcements, will have in his charge 1500 men being the officer in charge of the troopship. A social nnd dance was given in the Clifton Hall last Thursday evening as a farewell to the following men who are leaving on Monday next to join the 13th Reinforcements—Army Service Corps: A. V. Jones ami C. R. Griffin (Waitara); nrtillerv: J. It. Kelly, A. F. Jones (Okoke), T. Roberts (Rerokapa), F. P. Gunn, G. McKoy, R. Kirby, J. Clubb, J. Campbell, and H. Longstaff.
