RETURN OF TARANAKI HEN. ' CAPTAIN FURBY'S SERVICES. Two Taranaki soldiers who reaehei Auckland by the Ruahine arrived in New Plymouth by the Rarawa,' yesterday morning—Captain W, E. S. Furby and Private Terence Malone,. both of Stratford. To be twice wounded was the experience of Capt. Furby. JTo left Wellington for the front in October, 1!>14, as lieutenant, and after disembarking at Alexandria saw service in the defence of the" Suez Canal. Shortly afterwards he was sent to Anzac, and was in the first landing, After the Australians had captured a position at Walker's Ridge, the Turks counter-attacked, and in the subsequent engagement Furby was wounded. Alter being for some time in hospital at Alexandria, Captain Furby recovered and went back to Anzao on July 20, and was soon engaged in the fighting at Quinn's Post, where a very severe action, lasting ten days, took place. After participating in the Suvla Bay. landing he was shot through the knee after a bayonet charge, in which the Wellington battalion took part, lie was eventually sent to England and was' placed in the No. 3 General Hospital, London. He was promoted to the rank of captain . in February of last year.
Private Terence Malone is the second son of the late Colonel Malone, He hag made a good recovery from the shrapnel wounds, with the exception that lie k deaf in one ear. Private F. Crnnn, another lnv»>ldM soldier, returned to New Plymouth by the mail train last night. Private P. W. Locker, who was wound* ed at Oallipoli and returned to the Dominion by the Ruahine, arrived in Patea by the mail train on Thursday,
