MtEASON* FOR NON-COMMUNICATION
By Cable.—Press Association—Copyright
. Received Jan. B, 9.35 p.m. Melbourne, Jan. 5. Mr, Tulloch, who was lately in charge of the wireless station at Macquarrie Island, commenting on Captain Davis' statement that there is no reason for alarm owing, to the absence of wirelesi news of Sir Ernest Shackleton's expedition, says that the reason the Aurora had not communicated with Macquarrie Island was .because the plant was incapable of sending messages so far. Besides, the Aurora's anchorage in Ross Sea is behind lofty hills, over 1500 ft in height, which interfere considerablr with the radius of transmission.
