GERMAN ATTACK REPULSED. . MONTENEGRINS ENGAGED. Received Jan. 4, 5.5 p.m. Paris, Jan. 3. Official: In the region of Sommepy a German hand grenade attack was repulsed. A Montenegrin official report says that the enemy was repulsed near Uoduivo, after a day's fighting. RAKING THE ENEMY. TRANSPORTING WOUNDED BY .AEROPLANE. Received Jan, 4, 5.5 p.m. Paris, Jan. 3. A communique states: We drove the Germans from their shelters at Four de Paris by trench gunfire, and raked them with seventy-fives as they fled. During the Serbian retreat a number of wounded were removed to Scutari by means of six aeroplanes. RUSSIAN SUCCESSES. ADVANCE CONTINUES. Received Jan, 4, 11.35 p.m. Petrograd, Jan. '4. A communique reports: The enemy attempting to approach the trenches in the Czartorysk region and upper Strypa were repulsed with heavy losses. The fighting north-westward of Czernovitz is unahatedly violent. The Russians, despite numerous eGrtnter-attacks, are uninterruptedly advancing, and the enemy's losses are very heavy. We drove 500 Persian gendarmes south-eastward from Assagad towards Chena, capturing prisoners and supplies.
