ON NEW YEAR'S PAY. Include,? among the many attractions of this the premier bathing rendezvous of Taranaki, there will be the gvest swim by Mr. Christiansen, from ,M _nroa to the East End. He will leave the Breakwater at 9 a.m. sharp, and expect* ( to reach the East End at 11.30. Miss Banks will dive off with* him from the pier. Another attraction will he the everpopular btuby show, in two classes—under nine months and under eighteen , months, and also the Highland dancing, strathspeys, reels, swotd dance. There will Ibe a prize for the beatdressed Highland lassie. The race fol returned troopers (50 yards), race 'or all troopers going to the front (75 ■ yards), married ladies' race, swimming races for boys, under 16 and 14 respectively, high dive, long dive, canoe ruces and greasy boom wiU be great attractions. The children's races on the beach, which have been so popular for the last seven years, will be gone on with as heretofore. There will be prizes for all the little ones, and what with skipping, bun and treacle, etc., the girls and are in for a feast of fun. There will be an exhibition of lifo . saving by the East End team, champion life-saving team of Taranaki and holders of the Tabor Shield. The everpopular Smash the Kaiser, African dip, hoop la, bran tubs, etc,, wilji be mdy for patrons, and for the first time in Taranaki the art gallery must be seen. There will be boating on the river all day, and what with surfing, bathing in the river, etc., a record is sure to be broken by the premier foreshore committee. Taranaki visitors are requested to come and see the finest bathing pavilion and social hall in the southern hemisphere, fitted up with electric light and all conveniences for large pionTc parties. The committee have been successful in securing a splendid band • for the clay's amusement. There are the donkeys (Tiny, Weary Jacy, Ned, and Sandy)) beloved by all the children, and they will work all day in the interests of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund and the reserve. All trains stop at the Reserve during the day.
