NEW YEAR'S DAY.
NGAMOTU SEASIDE PICNIC. The Ngamotu treasure hunt is going at top. Extra prizes liave been donated by the J.P. Hardware Co., Melbourne Clothing Co. and Bellringer Bros., and it is confidently expected that 40 prizes will be buried at a total' cost of £3O. The Society intend every prize to be found, so patrons can be assured of an hour's pleasurable excitement. The committee are very anxious that a mere man should not dig up the W.B. corsets! • This year, above all others, the Breakwater picnic is to me the children's picnic. Nearly 200 prizes of all descriptions will be distributed to the little ones, and what better pleasure can anybody have than to see the kiddies enjoying themselves? The Marathon school squad race at Year's Day will bepnhwDsnn,Akinglsr. the picnic will be an item worth witnessing. There are rumours that the Central school have a squad that will about annex the Cup, and give the present holders (Waihi), a great run and intend to extinguish them. The picnic is the talk of Wie province. Stratford, Inglewood, Eltham and Hawera are talking Breakwater Picnic, "because they desire a day on the safest ocean beach in New Plymouth. Children and non-swimmers can enjoy the surf ■with equal security as those who are experts in the water. There is also launching, boa'ting, and fishing, besides the tumult of fun which will continue at high voltage intensity until the sun buries his head in the golden west.
