i / VARIOUS ITEMS. • Received Dec. 27, 10.45 p.m. Sydney, December 27. Returned soldiers received lavish Christmas entertainment everywhere. The authorities are determined to more strictly enforce discipline in the training of soldiers, and one reform that is probable will be the sweeping out from the troops of a number who have proved unamenable to discipline. The Bishop of Sydney presided at an intercession service, held in the Domain yesterday under the auspices of various denominations. Two thousands troops attended.
