Young Midshipman C. L. Drewry, who \r«B awarded the V.C. at the Dardanelles, only reached his majority this month. Whilst sailing round Cape Horn in the Indian Empire, a large London sailing ship, a storm arose, and the vessel was wrecked upon a desert island. Fortunately, the crew, including young Drewry, managed to get ashore. For fourteen days thoy sustained an existence on edible roots and shell fish, which they found upon the Island, and they managed to hold out until they were rescued by a gunboat, a Chilian man-of-war. The whola ship's crew were saved. After thia Drewry went back to England, and in 1912 he joined the P. and 0. service as an officer.
