Yolette is a simple country girl of Flanders, whose father is a rich miser. Yolette often visits the near-by Allied trenches with comforts for the troops, unknown to her' father. A young oliicer in a Highland regiment falls in love with her. and his affection is reciprocated. Her fattier discovers their love, a'nd drives the young man away. A Herman foraging party chase the officer, but lie eludes them by hiding in a well, which is the secret hiding place of the miser's hoard. In getting into the well the officers cap falls oil', and the miser visiting the well later lowers his hoard in an iron box into it. and takes the cap with him. lieturning, he i 3 intercepted by the foragers, who demand to know' where he found the cap. Fearing for his gold, he refuses, and is shot. The shooting is witnessed by his daughter from her window, and hurriedly escaping finds her way into Holland, and is sent with other refugees to England, where she is taken to the home of some rich spinsters. Meanwhile her lover is wounded, and finds himself in hospital in Eiiahiml. The kind-hearted spinster., visit the lio-pital, taking Yolette with them, to distribute comforts to the wounded. Yolette recognises her lover and a happy re-union takes place, and later a wedding. There is a good supporting programme.
