A DANGEROUS CROSSING
TROOPERS INJURED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Carterton, Dec. 20. The railway crossing near the Bank of New Zealand at Featherston, where a motor and train accident occurred last week, was the scene of another catastrophe this morning. A military transport wagon, drawn by two horses, and having aboard six men, was approaching the crossing as the train leaving at a quarter to 12 was proceeding to Wellington. Apparently the men on the wagon uid not hear or see the train approaching, and the train people did not see them, for the train caught the horses on the rails. The wagon was smashed, with wounded men lying in all directions. One horse was carried on the cowcatcher to the next crossing, when it was shot. The men, Corporal Harding, Private G. Stewart, Drivers Evans, h.vA F. Thomas, Sergeant McKissack, and Private Newman, were all hurt. Five have been admitted to the Grc-ytown Hospital, and one to the military hospital. Three are suffering seriosis head injuries, and two from shock (these are all in Greytown Hospital), and the other man is suffering fro.'u minor abrasions.
