AMUSEMENTS.

THEATRE ROYAL PICTURES. . "Yolette of Flanders" was the star item on the programme presented at the Theatre Royal last night. This picture is undoubtedly one of the best of its class yet presented here, and gives an idea of the habits and customs of the Flemish people. Yolette was a peasant girl and was regarded by the troops as •'the angel of the trenches," she being a regular dispenser of hot drink and food. Jean, her soldier lover, did not meet with the approval of her miserly father, and was forced to keep away from the house. However ihe home is visited by a party of German foragers. The father is shot, and the home destroyed. Yolette escapes and finds herself amongst the refugees bound for England. She is befriended there. With her friends she visits a hospital, and is surprised to find there her lover Jean. Later, it transpires that a fortune is awaiting Yolette, and the couple get married. The piece is admirably acted, and there are plenty of humorous situa-. tlons, The supporting Alms were an excellent lot. "A Visit to Petrograd," showed several fine Russian buildings. A drama. "The Escape on the Fast Freight," contained many thrilling situatins. The comedies were considerably above the average. "None Could Resist/' and "His Only Pants," created genuine amusement. The programme will be repeated to-night,
