LORD DERBY AND BEN TILLETT.

HEART OF THE COUNTRY BIGHT. Received Dec. 20, 7.5 p.m. London, Dec. 19. Lord Derby will meet an important conference of the Central Recruiting' Committee on Monday, when it is expected that he will give fairly adequate details of his scheme. Lord Derby and Mr. Ben Tillett were associated on the platform of the Alhambra Theatre on Sunday in aid of the French ißed Cross fund. Lord Deifty commented that both he and Mr. Tillett would have been astonished if they had been told a year ago that this was possible. They now both had the welfare of the country in common. He said he would not endeavor to anticipate Mr. Asquith, but he thought that after the Prime Minister's statement it would be found that the heart of the country was absolutely right.
