TRADING WITH THE ENEMY.

To the Editor. , Sir,—(Having just recovered from Mr, , attack on anonymous letter* writers I beg leave to reply to his remarks. lam not concerned at to whether the wholesale firms import ot indent German goods, i onl> know they- • get them. I know nothing of Mr FYaser's firm, and take his word that tliev 4o 00l import them. Other houses stook them i and may not import them. It is obvious that nil retailers who stock German f Roods aro not in a position to import, therefore the.v must get these goods from the wholesale people. To saj they fret them from a German firm cannot be right, otherwise what do the wholesale people generally do with the Oer- ! man goods they usually have in stock. As I said in my last letter, there must be much more profit in selling Ceraiaa goods than In selling British, otherwise the representing wholesale houses would not, if they were in -any way patriotic, advocate trading wit,h the enemy on the same terms as hefetre the war. The horror of a Zeppelin raid, which is not Warfare, on New Plymouth ■ might make the Chamber of Commerce consider whether the German* were deserving of the British fair play Mr. Fraser speaks of. Knther than suffer Another attack and further indisposition, X , foi'-sake anonymity and sign my name.—1 am. etc., T. C. STREET. Okato, Dec. 17.
