Captain Allen, an English fancier, Mow settled in New Plymouth, has been selected to judge the fancy pigeons at the next ChrietcTSuroh Show.

Mr. E. Buckley, clerk to the Moa Road Board, tendered his resignation at Saturday's meeting, owing to pressure of other work. The resignation was accepted with regret. . Mr. J. B. Morton, of Onehunga, well known in football circles as the Taranaki delegate on .the council of the New Zealand Rugby Football League, is at present dangerously ill in the Auckland hospital. Word has been received that Sergeant Jack Murphy, of the Otago Mounted Rifles (son of Mrs. E. Murphy, of Meremere), was wounded in action on December 2. He is the third son of Mrs. Murphy's to be wounded. Chaplain-Captain J. R. Sullivan is visiting New Plymouth. As a corporal he went through the opening stage of the Gallipoli struggle and was invalided home. Since his partial recovery, he has been appointed to his present commission, and is attached to the May Morn Camp. The death of Mr. George Dixon, a well-known resident of Wellington, is announced. The late Mr. Dixon was 71 years of age. He was born in Yorkshire, and was one of the pioneers who came out to New Zealand many years ago. The deceased learned the printing trade in Wellington, but abandoned it for other vocations.

The following have been gazetted members of the Surveyors' Board under the Surveyors' Institute and Board of Examiners Act: —Messrs. T. Humphries and R. T. Sadd (nominated by the Minister of Lands), and Messrs H. Sladden and J. C. Simmonds (nominated by the Council of the Institute.

Lieutenant Blake, Canterbury Battalion, reported killed in action, was a son of Mr. V. Blake, of the GUbornc Land and Survey Office. Lieutenant Blake was a surveyor, and wa3 engaged .in survey work in the Auckland province when he enlisted. He left Now Zealand with the Sixth Reinforcements, receiving a commission just prior tn the departure of the troops.
