Matthews, fiamlin, and Co. report:— On Wednesday last we held our usual weekly sale at our Inglewood yards, and had a fair yarding of stock and practically everything was disposed of at the hammer at very satisfactory prices, We quote: Fat cows £7 18a to £lO 7s Gd; forward cows £8 3s to £8 Is; store cows, £3 2s (id to £5 123 6d; heifers £8 to £5 17s 6d; yearling steers, £3 7s fld to £4 0s 6d; 2-year steers, £7 lis; yearling to 15jnonth heifers, £2 to £3 3s; bulls, £4 to £8 ss.

("Stratford branch] report lis follows: On Thursday, December 9, we held our Usual monthly sale in our Kohuratahi yards, when we had an exceptionally large yarding, consisting of 891 head of cattle, mostly grown 'bullocks, 292 sheep and four hofses. We liad to also use Mr. Newton King's yards, for Which wt had his kind permission. The sale was a good one, and we disposed of 68S head of cattle and all the sheep and horses. The attendance was large and representative, buyers being present from Wanganui, Waverley, Manaia, etc. Nearly everything was sold at the hammer under keen competition, Mr. Morrissey, of Hawera, wielding the hammer. Three-year-old bullocks, fair condition, made £lO to £ll 15s; 2$ to 3-ycar bullocks, not in forward condition, £8 to £9 19s fid; 2 to SVa-year steers £5 18s to £7 10s, 18-months steers £3 3b to £4 fls, yearling heifers 51s to 01s, 2-year heifers 74s 6d to 92s 6d, 3-year empty heifers IOOs to 1235, cows and calves 99s to 130s, medium forward cows £0 to £0 10s, forward cows £7 to £7 ss, store cows 88s to 95b, bulls 9!ls to 1355, dry ewes fat ewes and wethers 22s del, ewes and lambs 31s 3d, 2-tooth wethers (small) 19s 7d, medium mare £2B, hacks 80s to 120s. Our next Kohuratahi sale will be held on January 6, 1918. On Friday, December 10, we hold out monthly sale at To Wera, when we had a fair yarding of 386 head of cattle, 50 sheep, four dogs, horse, trav and harness, and have to report a very good sale of 294 head of cattle, all sheep, dogs, etc., at satisfactory prices. There was a large attendance cf the public. Fat cows sold from 171s to 180s, forward cows 128s to 158s, good stores 82s Od to 117s, 3-yeat'-oid steers 101s to 2'lOs, 2-year steefß Ills to 1235, 18-months steers 09s Cd to 85s, yearling steers 50s to 55s Od, 18-moiiths heifers 60s to 7'ls Od, yearling heifers 40s to 5Gs 6d, heifers in milk to 147s 6d, 2-year empty heifers 37* to 130s, bulls 77s to 120s, ewes and iarribs in wool 32s Od, forward shorn tiwes 18s 30. We also offered on account of Mr. Win. Stewart two dogis, which realised £4 5s and £fi respectively; also, on account of Mrs. A. E. Rogers, sundries, which realised full market values. Our next Te Wera sale will be held on January 14, 1916,

On Tuesday, December 14, we held our usual fortnightly sale in our Stratford yards, Mrhen i>a..l a large entry of 775 head of cattle, of which we disposed of 375. The market was slightly easier, except for cattle with plenty of condition, more especially cows, which realised from £!) to £ll 17s (Id; forward cows (bulky) £8 as to „C 8 17s fid, medium cow? £7 to £B, good store cows £5 10s to £6 16s, light and lower-conditioned £4 to £5 4s, 2>/ e -vear steers up to £7, 2-year steers 114s, 18-months steers 70s to 80s, yearling steers (small) 44s Od, 3-year heifers )04s, 2-year heifers ?7s to 90s, 18-months heifers 09s to 70S, yearling heifers 45s to ads, bulls £7 10s to £ll ss, according to weights arid condition. Our next Stratford sale will be held on January 11, 1910. On Tuesday, 14th inst., we also held our monthly sale of wool, sheepskins, hides, etc., when we had a fair catalogue of 110 packages of wool, and the average quantity of skins, etc. We had the usual attendance of buyers and full market values were obtained for wool, sheepskins being slightly easier, hides on a par with last sale, while calfskins were slightly better. Wool in sacks: Locks and pieces, heavy, 5%d; dead Iteecc, (id to lOVid; crutchings, heavy, 5%d to 7!4d; clean fleece, Is Id. Wool in fadges: Locks and pieces, heavy, (i'/ 2 d; bellies, 7'/ s d to 7%d; pieces up to i) ! / 2 d. Bale wool: Flee?e, medium staple, free from seed, 1b Id, Is Is 2d to Is 2jd; fine wools, la 12d to Is 2d for a nice line on account of an East road client; coarse wool, little seed, Is l%d. These purchases were on a par with Wellington ratß9. Sheepskins: Pelts 9d, dead and torn damaged 8d to B%d; half-wooled, up to 9%d; three-quarter-wooled, lOd to 10% d; full-wooled, butchers'. up to lid; lamb skins, B%d to Od. Cowhides: Light, o%d to 7%d; medium 7%d to B%d; yearling hides, 7d to 7%d; cut and slipy, 4%d to 6%d. Calfskins: 51bs, 9%d; fleshy, B%d; medium, Gd to 8d; cut and slipy, 4->/ 2 d. Tallow: In tins, 18s to 21s per cwt.; bones, 4s per cwt.; horsehair, mixed, Is Id; fungus, up to 6%d per lb. At our Wellington wool sale on Friday, December 10, several lines of wool from the Kohuratalii district were sold, one line of Tahora wool making 14% d, another line 14d. another 15% d, and another line 13% d. Prom the above it will be seen that full values for wool were realised at our Stratford sale on the 14th inst. Our next wool, skin and hide sale will he held on Tuesday, January 11, 1916. Fat sheep—22o7 were yarded, Including a few pens of extra heavy wethers. The yarding was in excess of trade requirements, and prices for prime sheep were 2s lower, and for medium 3s lower. (Best shorn wethers 2>4s Od to 28«, extra to 35» 3d, medium 20s to 235, light and unfinished 17s "6d to 19s, best shorn ewes 21s to 235, extra to 31's 6d, medium 10s to 18s, best woolly wethers to 255, best woolly ewes to 275, extra to 37s 3d.
