In. the Assembly, the Bill to overcome the mayoral deadlock provided, that the present Lord Mayor should have k casting vote, It passed the council with an amendment providing that if the matter was not settled by December 30 the Governor should appoint a member of the council to fill the office. The amended Bill passed. POLITICAL MATTERS. Sydney, Dec. 1(1. ' In the Assembly the Government rejected the Council's amendment in the Liquor Bill providing' for the ((losing of hotels at 0 o'clock instead of 10 o'clock by 35 votes to 28, During the debate, Mr. Holman announced that he was prepared at any time to introduce anti-shouting legislation.
The Council passed the Eight Hours Bill and the Commonwealth War Powers Bill.
