SEAMEN'S WAGES.

AN INCREASE DEMANDED. By Telegraph.—.Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. During tlio past week the Executive Council of the Federated Seamen's Union met in Wellington and passed tlie following resolutions:—That New Zealand steamship owners be requested to .apeo to a variation of the present agreement in the direction of an increase of wages of £2 a month to bring the Dominion rate into line with the increase asked for by the Australian Seamen's Union; (2) that an Australasian award or Australasian agreement would better conserve the interests of seamen engaged in the Australian and New Zealand trade, and that steps bo taken to bring this about as speedily as possible, a separate agreement to be arranged for the New Zealand coastal trade. The meeting strongly protested against conscription.
