AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.

COMMITTEE MEETING. At a meeting of the comn ittec of the Taranaki Agricultural Socictl, Mr. W. 11. Martin was elected to the general committee and Mr.-R. Johnstone to the executive committee. The schedules in connection with the forthcoming show were adopted, as submitted by the sub-committee. It was decided to cut out the dog section from the show, and also that a class he included for best yearling bull from semi-ollieially-tested Jersey cows. The Jersey Breeders' Association notified that they were willing to subsidise the semi-oflicially tested cow competition to the extent of £lo.—The offer was accepted with thanks. The meeting resolved to have two guessing competitions. One is to lie for a cow or bullock (prizes £5, £3 and £1) and the other is to be for a sheep(£2 and £l. It was decided to hold the mangel competition in conjunction with the Winter Show. This will be a field acreage competition on the same lines as the swede acreage competition. Messrs Webster''Bros, offered £lO 10s for the swede acreage competition, and Mr Newton King a like amount for the best crop of Garton's Superlatives. Votes of thanks were accorded these firms. . Messrs Connett, Rowlands anil Luxton received votes of thanks for special prizes ( £1 Is each) for the green feed competition. ■———■—ammmm——■*—««
