FOR WOUNDED SOLDIERS.
CONCERT BY COXVRXT PUPILS. A highly successful coiH-i'tl. in aid of Uie Wounded Soldiers' Fund was given by tlie pupils of flic Convent S.liool in the Theatre Ru.vnl yesterday afternoon. A new departure was made in holding tin; entertainment in the afternoon, and the move proved to he a wise one. for tile promoters were rewarded with a good audience, which was "enormia in its appreciation of the excellent programme presented. The financial result of the concert was not available yesterday, hut it is expected the wounded soldiers will henelit by a goodly amount. Every item in the programme was enjoyable, and variety was a feature which greatly assisted in the success of the entertainment, while encores were demanded from almost every performer. The programme was a s follows:-—Piano duet, Misses Dennett, Old. Connett, D. .). Bennett; (la,.* drill, girls; part son-?, "The -May .Morning," pupils; instrumental selection, "Airs from Mozart,"' Misses Mannix, Jones, Lindstroui, Esse, Hooper, Duggan and Murray (violins). Miss v'. Allen (piano); song, "Roumanian Nijht Hon;.'," .Mis, Gilbert; violin andantino, Mis* E. Mannix; chorus, "Britain's Soldier Boys," the boys; song and drill. "Lovely Flowers,"' girls; piano duet, Misse., Barry, McMahon, Whittle and Allen. Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P.. then hrieflv addressed the audience, after which Mrs. Burgess (Mayoress), opened envelopes of raffles.
The concert was then continued: Piano duet, Misses Bennett, Old, Connett. and J. Bondall; chorus, "The Vesper Hymn.'' girls: instrumental selection (Barcarolle). Misses Mannix, Jones, l.iiulstroni. Esse, Hooper, Duggan and Murray (violins). Miss B. Allen (piano): lioop drill, girl.-,; piano duet. Misses Bennett. Old, Connett, and ,7. Bennett; sons, ■'lnvitation to the Dance,'' Miss Gilbert; son? and drill, "The Fascinating; Fan Girls"; piano duet, Hisses Mckenzie, Vnnliy. Jones and Hooper; violin solo, Miss K. Mannix; cantata, "Our News, Times. Daily Telegraph. Dailv Standard, Chat.tei-l.ox, Black and White, Tit-Bits"; finale, "Cod Defend Xew Zealand." The guessing competition resulted as follows (the names in parentheses are those of ithe ladies in charge of the competitions) :—Fancywork cushion (C.
