THE RECENT CARNIVAL.

To the Editor. Sir,—l desire to express my pleasure at tile magnificent day's outing provided in Tfew Plymouth by the recent school carnival, and also my disappointment that special trains were omitted so as to enable, country people to attend. I hope that the affair will bo made an annual one and that the country schools of the province will be invited to take part. The school committee that neglects to give the children under its control the opportunity of witnessing or taking part in such legitimate and instructive amusement will be failing in its duty, and I feel sure I voice the opinion of those country people who were lucky enough to be present. It is many years since I was in the Park, and the improvements struck me as being of high-class order, and there can be no better place in which to bring the children of the country schools together, as the object lesson in things pertaining to man's assistance or co-operation with Nature are there consolidated. However, 1 know I express the opinion of many a country visitor when I say that never have I had such a pleasurable time as on Thursday last, and a|so that the stay-at-homes denied their children the time of their lives. Further, I think all concerned in arranging the affair deserve the highest compliments.—l am, etc., A DAIRYMAN'S WIFE. Durham Road, Dec. 4.
