tHOTEL AUSTRALIA ABLAZE. j GUESTS ABED GF.T A FRIGHT. | By Cable.—Press Association—Copyright Received Dec. 5, 1-1.5 p.m. ' Sydney, Dec. 8. A Are occurred this morning in the Hotel Australia. A large portion of the top floor and the tower were gutted, . while the glass roof and the winter gar- ■ den were damaged. There was also serious damage done by water and amoke to the five lower floors. There were ; ninety guests, a number of wJiom itttt , spending their Sunday abed, and they . made a hurried exit in their night clothes. The fire brigade made n splendid live of the Commercial Travellers' Club *nd other big buildings that were threatened. The cause of the fire and the amount of damage are as yet unknown. a
