CHANCES IN COMMAND. GENERAL BIRDWOOD IN CHARGE. GENERAL GODLEY PROMOTED". Wellington, Last Night. A cablegram received by the Defence Slraister reports that changes Save been made in the command at the Dardanelles. General Birdwood, who has commanded the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps since the commencement of operations, has been placed in control of all the British forces at the Dardanelles, but doubtless he will work (Under the direction of General Monro, who wag sent to succeed General Sir lan Hamilton, but who has remained at 'Salonika; General Godley succeeds General Birdwood in command of the Australian and New Zealand division of that corps, and he is succeeded in his position by Brigadier-General Sir A. H. Russell, while Brigadier-General Legge commands the Australian Division and ether portions of the Army Corps.
