I have made enquiries from the Superintendent of Workers' Dwellings, who informs me that there has bcenlio delay in the matter, and the Department hopes at an early date to fix the prices of the sections for selection by applicants, and then to arrange for the preparation of plans and specifications of the dwellings to be erected. You will remember that provision was inserted in the Washingup Bill at the'end of last session to sot apart the land, originally belonging tl> the post office, for the purpose of workers' dwellings. While that measure was being proceeded with arrangements wen made with the General Post Office to hand same over to tne Department of Labor, less an area of about threequarters of an acre required by the Post Office for their future lequirements. The subdivisional survey of the land has now been completed and the Department is awaiting a valuation of the various sections to enable the Workers' Dwellings' P>oard to fix the prices of the sections for submission to the applicants. When this is done the architect will meet the applicants and arrange for the preparation of plans and specifications of the dwellings to be erected. The Superintendent of Workers' Dwellings states that most of this information lias been in possession of the local agent of this Department."—Star.
