BOWLERS AND THE WAR.
RAISING A FUND FOR SICK AND ' WOUNDED. At a meeting of a special committed on Friday last in the New Plymouth Bowling Club's pavilion, Mr. A. K. Smart was added to the list of members appointed to devise ways and means of raising money for the "sick and wounded and their dependents. It waa resolved that a circular be sent to all club members setting out the resolution passed at a special general meeting on the 22nd Inst, asking members to contribute £1 or Is per week to the fund during the season. Also that a match be arranged for December 10 between members of the three local clubs, East v. West, with an entrance fee of Is. It is hoped to arrange a ladies' triangular match of two rinks from Fitzroy and West End to play New Plymouth ladies. Ladies are welcome to practice any afternoon for the match by notifying Mr. W. J. Chaney, the special committee's secretary; tennis 3hocs or slippers to bo worn. On the evening of the matches it hai been decided to hold a social for bowlers, their families and friends, at which music and progressive bridge and euchre will be played, and to provide tea and coffee.
