THE MANGATOKI FACTORY.
To the Editor. Sir,—Your sub-leader on the employment of girl labor in the Mangatoki Dairy Factory has been read with much interest, but, unfortunately for the subleader, the statement that the company is employing girl labor is incorrect. The company has not so far employed any female labor in any of its factories, and, ag far as I am aware, does not propose to do so as yet, although there is no good reason why girls should not be so employed in some parts of the cheesemaking industry as well as in milking cows. Of course male labor must always be employed in the Heaviest portions.— I am, etc., F. H. WATTS, Secretary Mangatoki Co-operative Dairy Co., Ltd. I.We copied the paragraph in question from a contemporary, but its incorrectness does not affect the purpose of our remarks, namely, the necessity for training female and other labor in anticipation of the inevitable shortage.—Ed.]
