THE RACE FOR BAGDAD. BRITISH PRESSING ON. Received Nov. 27, 8.15 p.m. London, Nov. 27. The Press Bureau says that General Nixon, telegraphing on November 25, states that General Townshcnd's troops are in possession of the battlefield, and the Turks are reported retiring to Dealah, ten miles from^Bagdad. Our wounded are 2500, but the number killed is not reported. General Nixon nighly praises General Townshend's handling of his troops, who are in splendfd spirit after severe losses and hardship from ,want of water and food.
