TARANAKI EXPORTS TO DATE.
SHIPMENTS VALUED AT £391,174. CHEESE FOR THE AEMY. The exact quantities comprising the sixth shipment from New Plymouth of the new season's produce were arrived at yesterday, and are .11/402 boxes of butter and 7677 crates of cheese. The produce will be taken to Wellington by the Corinna on Tuesday, and at Wellington it will be transhipped to the Orari. A quantity of the cheese is for the Government and represents the first lot exported from New Plymouth for the use of the Army. It is expected that the cheese for the market will realise £37,885, and the butter should bring £30,907, making a total value of £77,792. This exceeds the value of any other shipment made from New Plymouth this season.
After the sixth shipments have been made from New .Plymouth and Patea next week, Taranaki will have exported 75,598 boxes of butter and 7fi,001 crates of cheese, representing an estimated value of £591,174. Of these totals, the greater portion of the butter passed through New Plymouth, the figures being 60,532 boxes as compared with 15,006 boxes despatched from Patea. Of the cheese 45.594 crates were shipped through Patea and 27,407 crates through New Plymouth.
