On Friday, the 10th inst., at my Waiwakaiho yards, I had a full yarding of cattle, with a representative attendance of buyers for all classes, springing heifers being the only class that did not meet with keen enquiry. Prices obtained were:—Fifteen-months well-grown Shorthorn heifers (good) £3 7s, 13months very nice quality Jersey heifers £4 (small line), other 15-months heifers £2 2s to £3 3s, Shorthorn 15months steers (tops) £4 '4s, fair cattle £3 18a to £4 2s fid, weedy £2 15s to £3 3s, 2-year steers from £6 13s for good cattle to £8 4s for an exceptionally nice line of Shorthorns on account of Mr. L. Rundle; 3-year steers (rough) £8 4s to £8 12s fid, empty 2-year heifers £4 9s to £4 19s, smaller £3 18s to £4, 15-months mixed cattle £3 15s, bulls for boning £5 5s to £8 2s fid for light bulls and £lO 10s to £lB 10s for heavy weights, the latter price being for a 4-year-old Shorthorn carrying great condition; 15-months Shorthorn bulls £3 15s to £6, young dairy bulls £6 2s fid to £7 10s, heavy forward cows £7 3s to £B, others £6 9s to £6 17s, gooo store cows £6 2s to £6 ss, smaller cows or lower in condition £4 12s Od to £5 14s, dairy cows £5 7s fid to £8 12s fid, best springing heifers £6 15s to £8 12s Gd, others £& to £5 12s fid. At Stratford on Tuesday, the 23rd inst., 1 had a full yarding of cattle, with a good attendance of buyers. Bidding throughout was good, and a big proportion of the yarding was cleared at the hammer at the following prices:—Fifteen months steers £3 17s fid to £4 Bs, yearlings £2 10s to £3 10s, 2-year steers from £4 18s Od for rough to £6 15s, 2-year empty heifers £4 3s fid to £4 14s 6d, good 15-months heifers £3 3s to £4, small 38s 6d to £2 3s, bulls £5 10s to £lO, yearlings £3 5s to £4 2s Od, fat cows £8 18s to £lO 14s, forward cows £7 lis to £B, good store cows £5 17s to £0 19s fid, smaller cows £3 10s to £4 18s fid, fat shorn ewes 225, woolly hoggets 35s 7d, ewes and lambs 2Ss 4d, empty ewes 25s to 25s 9d. In the springing heifer yards I had a good entry, the demand, considering the time of the yeai', being very good for the best quality. Four choice heifers on account of Mr. A. Boyd, of Toko, made £ll, other good heifers up to £9 7s 6d, smaller £5 17s 6d to £0 17s 6d, small £4 to £5 ss.

Best dairy cows and heifers sold at £7 10s to £lO sa, others £5 to £6 17s 6d, aged and inferior cows £1 15s to £4, empty cows and heifers £5 5s to £7 4s, bulls £5 to £lO. The advertised working bullocks realised £l3 10s. Yearling to 18-months steers made £4 3s to £5 14s, yearling to 18-months heifers £2 12s to '£4 10s.

On Tuesday, at Tuakau, the dairy cows sold at from £7 to £l3, horses £5 to £27, this year's calves £1 10s, tine harrows £4 15s, cart £2 15s, mower £3 15s, quantity sundries at late rates.

At Westfield fat stock market, on Wednesday, beef was penned in average numbers, and sold at last week's rates. Oxen sold to £2 6s per 1001b; cows and heifers, £1 14a to £2 4s; steers sold at from £l2 7s Gd to £lB 17s Gd; cows and heifers, £7 5s to £l4 ss. Runners sold at from £fi 12s fid to £9 2s (id; heavy suckers, £2 19s to £4 175,, medium £1 17s to £2 14s, light l(ss to £1 14s; small and fresh dropped, 3s to 12s. Pigs were penned in average ; numbers, and sold at slightly improved prices. No choppers were yarded. Heavy baeoners, £4 to £3 ss, medium £3 10s to £3 ISs, light £3 to £3 As; heavy porkers, £3 5s to £3 18s, medium £2 13s to £3 ss, light £2 Is to £2 lis; slips, £1 5s to £1 12st weaners, none yarded', and are wanted. Sheep were yarded in full numbers, and showed no improvement iii price.
