CENTRAL SCHOOL CARNIVAL.
COMPLETING ARRANGEMENTS The committee met in the Town Halt on Wednesday evening, Mr. S. G. Smith presiding over a good attendance. Correspondence was read from the secrotary of the band, agreeing to play on the day of the carnival; from the secretary of the Citizens' Band committee, granting the use of their collection of grotesque heads for the procession; from Mr. Purdie, chairman of the Waihl School Committee, stating that he will do his best to send a Maori team of poi dancers; from the headmaster of tin Waihi school, Mr. Bullians, offering to send a team of 24 boys and girls to give an exhibition of Swedish drill; from tno Railway Department, that concession* in the railway could not be granted. The following resolutions were carried: That Messrs C. Sadler and B.' Smith make the necessary arrangements for the transit of the pupils at the Waihi school; that the secretary writs to the local Patriotic Committees, asking that they will give what assistance they can; that Mr. ,J. R. Hill be appoint' ed convener of the Side-show Committee; that the chairman and secretary make full inquiries as to the possibility of securing the machine-gun, now on exhibiton in Wanganui, which was made by New Zealand labor, in the Petone Railway Workshops; that W. If. Preece, W. Roch, T. Bennoch, S. Teed, J. Abbott, W. Hardwiek, F. Banks and 0. Feck be added to the names of the general committee; that Mr. Mcheod be apopinted to make arrangements for gatekeepers on Carnival Day; that it be left in the hands of Mr. J. R. Hill'to arrange for the grass in the Sports Ground to be cut; that the erection of stalls ho left in the hands of F. Danks, G. Feek, \V. Hardwiek, and F. Coleman; that Messrs. Saunders, 0. J. H.ughej an,cl E. Carter be a sub-committee to assist the ladies with afternoon tea; that A. Christian be employed to bolt the coppers for afternoon tea, etc.; that the custody of the grotesque heads he left in the hands of T. Bcnnotk and W. Roch; that Mr. A. Sykos be asked for the loan of his tent for the use of the secretary; that the grand procession start punctually at 12.30 p.m. from the Drill Hall; that a hearty vote of thanks bs accorded to Mr. M. Holah. for his donation of valuable prizes in the classes for best decorated Ford motor-car; that the programme committee appoint stewards for the various events; that the chairman, Messrs Dempsey. D. .1. Hughes, P. J. Flannagan and .1. R. Hill be appointed an executive committee, with power to deal with matte-* that may arise in connection with the rarnival; Clint Mr. D. .T.
