THE KOWHAI. The Kowhai arrived yesterday from Wellington with 400 tons of genersl cargo from Southern ports. THE RARAWA. The Rarawa brought 132 tons of general cargo from Onehunga yesterday, including 27 tons of manure, 18 tons of sugar, and 14 tons of cement. THE BRISBANE. The Melbourne Steamship Company's old steamer Brisbane, which wsb a regular trader between Newcastle and Lyttelton for many years, and occasionally visited Wellington, and which was recently sold to Eastern buyers, is having a run of bad luck. The vessel loaded a cargo at Hongkong, and after discharging at Singapore sailed again for Hongkong. When twelve hours out she collided with the steamer Vivat, bound from Hongkong to Singapore. The Vivat was so badly damaged that she foundered, but the Brisbane was more fortunate. Her bows were "stave in," otherwise, the vessel escaped damage. The Brisbane's course was then altered and she eventually reached Singapore, where she is being repaired. THE WERCKED DEVON. Slowly, but surely, the elements are breaking up the remains of the wrecked Devon at Pencarrow Heads, and it is probable that in a few years' time little will remain to mark the last rest-ing-place of that ill-fated ship (says the Wellington Post). Monday night's, storm has now added its "little bit" to the general disintegration by carrying away the topmast of the' vessel's last spar. NOTES. Advices from Sydney state that tlio Norwegian barque Sardhana, now en route from Lyttelton to Newcastle, has been very fortunate as rpgards her charter. It is stated that she will load coal for Africa on behalf of Messrs A. Weir and Co., at the rate of 36s per ton —the highest rate paid for some considerable time.
