ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES. A MINING MISHAP, y Telegraph.—P*eS3 Association. Waihi, Nov. 20 John Hayes, who, with James McLu'naii, met with an accident in the Hope of Wailii Mine yesterday through a sudden subsidence of quartz, was rescued at 2.30 tli is morning. They were buried waist-deep and Mclennan got out after an hour's work. Hayes, although buried, could be seen through a crevice in the boulders. He was so hemmed in with boulders and general debris that fourteen hours were occupied in extricating him. During his imprisonment hovril was administered to him. His injuries consisted of contusions to the body and lir and he is suffering from shock, V KILLED BY MOTOR-CAR, * Carterton, Nov. 20. i William Hunt, aged S3, employed at the public works camp at Featherston, was knocked down last night at 10.30 by a motor-car containing H. Lloyd, jeweller, and H. Davis (Davis and Clatter), both of Wellington. Death was instantaneous. An inquest will be h«l4<
