EGMONT SHOW.

OPENING TO-DAY. The thirty-second annual show of the Egmont A. and. P. Association will commence to-day. The entries on the whole are very satisfactory, though they are a little below those of last year. This is accounted for, so far as the stock classes are concerned, by the fact that many farmers, who have usually exhibited at this popular fixture, are unable to do so this year in consequence of the shortage of labor, due to so many young men serving their country. While the classes may be smaller, the quality of the stock shown will be of a high standard, and .the general excellence of the Hawera Show and its reputation as one of the leading fixtures of the Dominion will be well maintained.

To-day will be devoted to the judging of the exhibits, and to-morrow will be People's Day—one of the most popular open-air attractions of the year.
