ALLEGED WRONGFUL DISMISSAL.
THE DINNIE CASE. PLAINTIFF NoN-SUITED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. ■Wellington, Last Night. The Chief Justice delivered judgment to-day in the case wherein Mr. Walter Dinnie, ex-Commissioner of Police in New Zealand, sued the Crown for £5Ol damages for alleged, wrongful dismissal. His Honor said lie was of opinion that during the six months between Mr. Dinnie's resignation of the Commissionership and his appointment to a position in the Native Department he held no office under the Crown, and by receiving amounts that he had paid into the superannuation fund he had acted as if his office had ceased. "It mav he that he has been harshly treated,"'concluded his Honor, "but into that question I have no jurisdiction to inquire." Mr. Dinnie was non-suited, costs being allowed on the lowest scale.
