Only a woman, who died for a righteous cause, Murdered for doing her duty, upholding humanity's laws. 0, ye men with wives and sisters, with your sweethearts by your side, Are deeds like this to occur again, as yc wait for the turn of the tide? We've had horror enough already from the treacherous German Hun, Whose only plea for a murder foul, '"Twas a deed that had to be done." Can't you hear your comrades? "Will they never, never come? In the face of the call and deeds like this, are you all for ever dumb? For you know it's a fight to the finish that will go on day by day, Till Britain, who stands for freedom, has broken the German sway." So give them the answer now, lads, and prove to the world your breed, That has always been ready to right the wrong, and help in the hour of need. Go forth in your youth and manhood, and fight for a holy cause, That will stand for Peace and Freedom, and uphold humanity's laws. Only a woman, a Red Cross nurse, who died in a far off land; Whose only crime was a loving heart, and a willing, helping hand; She has given you all a lead, lads, slie Germany in its thorough orgaisation has shown you what to do.
