WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Waitara, Nov. 22. A concert was given in the Clifton Hall last Saturday afternon by the pupils of Mrs. Marlow, L.I!.A.M. and A.11.C.M., and Miss Marlow, A.R.C.M. These eoncerts are held quarterly, and are always great favorites with lovers of high-dass music, and in spite of the adverse weather this one was well attended. The music rendered was of a higher order than any of the previous concerts, and was greatly appreciated by those present. During an interval, Mr. Were, as local representative of the Royal Academy of Music, awarded prizes to those gaining most marks at the recent examination, and also to Misses E. Niekson and E. Gaustad who had tied for a prize offered for most progress made during the term. Mr. Were stated that the returns for recent examinations had not as yet been published, but lfe believed that when they were it would be found that Waitara, although only a small place, would fully hold its own in every respect. Special praise is due to Miss Marlow, who had not only passed tne Advance Centre examination, but had been awarded honors, whicli was a very great honor indeed.
