LET PEOPLE KNOW.

To the Editor. Sir,—As a ratepayer, I wish to protest against the action of the Taranaki County Council in not advertising sufficiently the election to fill the vacancy on the Council. Matters of this sort, where it is a question of the right of every ratepayer to nominate and vote for their representative, should be advertised at least three. or four times in every paper that is circulated in that particular district. I firmly believe that there is not one half of the ratepayers in the Moa Riding that know that the election takes place next Friday. Is it a matter of expense that it is not advertised more than it is? If so, I would point out to the Council that it would be better to spend a little more in advertising the ratepayers' buisness than to vote away so large a sum at the end of their financial year. I have been told that the election lakes place next Friday, and ratepayers wishing to vote wjll have to make a special trip to Inglewood. If it were held on a Wednesday or a Saturday it would not be an inconvenience to farmers. If parliamentary elections were held like this one, we would soon have trouble. Why should we not have things more busi-ness-like in local government matters?— 1 am, etc., RATEPAYER. Inglewood, 20/11/15.
