A Christchurcli cabman received tlie surprise of his life oil Saturday night last. He took a fare to the railway station to catch the steamer to Wellington, and 011 looking in the cab afterwards, found in it a box containing live snakes. The reptiles liave been handed over to the Mayor, who has not yet decided what should be done with them, but it is probable that, if not claimed, they will be presented to the authorities at Canterbury Museum, to lie converted into specimens by the taxidermist. It is thought that they were used by a showman on People's Day at the Show, and, in the hurry of departure for Wellington, were forgotten in the cab.
