URENUI.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Urenui, Friday. On. Thursday evening, the Sunflower Entertainers, from Waitara, gave a concert in the Town Hall at which nearly all the residents of the district, were present, including everyone from Okoke. The hall bad been very prettily decorated. The programme was a good one, and was much appreciated by those present, and a return Visit at any time will always meet with approval. The whole of the proceeds are to go through the Urenui branch of the North Patriotic League for patriotic purposes. The net result, inclusive of sales of sweets, etc., amounted to something over £2O. On Sunday afternoon, the Waitara Municipal Band propose to give a programme of music in the school grounds, commencing at 2 o'clock. The band's performance on Labor Day was so much appreciated that no doubt there will be a large attendance from round the district. Although there is plenty of grass about, and stock are looking fairly well, farmers are not getting the same milk returns a 9 might be expected, due to the amount of rain that has been fallihg so continuously having the eft'ect of lowering the tests. A spell of the weather that we are now experiencing will largely remedy this, as there will be more substance in the feed. It will not be at all surprising if the amount raised locally will reach the £IOOO marl; very soon. The committee are aiming at the 1000 hill, and their object is usually attained.
