AN ABNORMAL DEFECTIVE.
A CHBOAiGO DOCTOR'S ACTION. WAS HE RIGHT? By Cable.—Press Association—Copyright New York, Nov. 18. A question which is exciting more interest in the United States than the war has arisen over the action of Dr Harry Haiselden who, finding a defective abnormal child born to a Chicago woman, decided to allow it to die rather than perform an operation which was certain to sarve its life, hut. would never make it normal or unparalysed. The mother approved and the medical profession agreed that the only possible course was followed. The coroner justified Dr. Haiselden on the ground that it was impossible for the child ever to become normal. The opinions of the churches are divided.
