ONE TOUCH OF NATURE. RELIGIOUS BARRIERS BREAK DOWN. A PATHETIC STORY. Berne, Nov. 17. A Galician correspondent of a Geneva journal says that religious barriers grow less in the horrors of the battlefield. Catholic priests are succouring Jews, while Mussulmans expire in the arms of Protestant pastors. A Catholic priest narrates: "A soldier, mortally wounded, crawled to me and I knelt beside him. He was a Jew. He was frightfully mutilated, but held himself close against me with wild energy, (begging me to pray for him. I gave him from the bottom of my heart the last consolations.
