AUCKLAND CARNIVAL.

SOUTH CANDIDATE LEAD - :. VOTES REPRESENT £11,004. At the end of last week the progress of the Auckland Queen Carnival resulted in the leading position being gained by the Queen of the South, Mrs Bollard. At the close of the poll on Friday, Mrs. Parker, the Wholesalers' candidate, was in the land, Mrs. Bollard being third on the list. A total of 121.874 votes polled for the latter candidate led to her ascendancy on Saturday. With the exception of this change of leaders the order of the remaining candidates was unaltered. Mrs. Bollard has a substantia! majority over Mrs. Parkes, now second on the list, of 102,626, and between the second and the third candidate, Mrs. Harding, Queen of the North, the difference is 19,152. Tbe order of the candidates at the close of the poll on Saturday was as follows: Group Votes. South 887,502 Wholesalers 734,936 North 765,784 Soldiers 743,065 Professions 707,438 Retailers ~ 608,718 East 641,543 Licensed Victuallers .. 555,425 Sports 390,101 Labor 349,504 Public Service 304,084 Waitemata 156,245 The number of votes recorded for the Queen of the South represents £11,094 10 9 Od, and that for the Wholesalers' Queen, £9SII 14s.
