SPEEDY DEVELOPMENTS PROBABLE. JAPAN'S AID WITH MUNITIONS. Received Nov. 15, 11.55 p.m. Petrograd, Nov. 15. The military authorities anticipate speedy developments as a result of General Rushky's aggressive action against General Hindenburg. Japan has been rendering opportune aid with shells. The Germans round Mitau are emptying their depots, of munitions.
OFFICIAL REPORT. GENERAL FIGHTING CONTINUES. .. Received Nov. 15, IIMO p.m. Petrograd, Nov. 15. 'A communique states: We repulsed enemy attacks at Boerhmunde, in the* Exhul district. Desperate fighting continues near Medvojie, north-west of Chartorysk. We stopped the enemy's offensive in the direction of the Styr, and it has been stopped in the Caucasus. We repulsed Kurdish forces on the west coast of Lake Ofrmis.
GERMAN REPORT. THE USUAL REPULSES. Received Nov. 15, 10.50 p.m. Amsterdam, Nov. 15. A German communique states that Generals Koevess and Gallwitz repulsed the enemy along the entire front. There is obstinate fighting at various points.
SAFEGUARDED. THE BALKANS AN EPISODE. Received Nov. 15, 10.55 p.m. Petrograd, Xov. 15. General Rnshki says: We are riow guaranteed against any surprises. The Germans are surrendering readily,. and are worn out by their privations. The Balkans is an episode; it is not there that the fate of the nations will be decided." ..» :> ■:
THE BUDGET. CZAR THANKS HIS TROOPS. Received Nov. 15, 5.5 p.m. Petrograd, Nov. 14. The Budget shows a deficit of 327 million roubles, which will be recovered by credit operations and increased taxation, including taxes on income, lands, customs, and excise. The Minister alludes to Russia's regeneration by temperance. The Czar has inspected British submarines at Reval, and decorated the officers. He inspected the defences at Riga and Dvinsk, and thanked the troops for their heroic services.
THE DARDANELLES "SPLENDIDLY AT FIRST." SUVLA BAY AND GREEN KNOLL. Times and Sydney Sun Services. Received Nov. 15, 5.5 p.m. London, Nov. 14. Captain Perry Hansen, who won the V.C. at Gallipoli, has arrived in London. He participated in the Suvla Bay landing and was present at the capture of Green Knoll. He reports that tliey were unable to hold the eminence owing to the intense scrub fire. The assault was launched at five o'clock and the top of the knoll was gained. A desperate struggle followed to hold their ground, the Turks ceaselessly shelling. Ultimately they were compelled to give up the knoll. "We were cut up," said Hansen, ''but in turn we cut up five thousand of the enemy. Thv Suvla Bay landing was carried out with little opposition, and everything went splendidly at first.-"
