WAITARA. Waitara, Yesterday. Private George Soft'e, who was wounded at the Dardanelles and returned by the Tofua, and has been a patient at the New Plymouth Hospital since, arrived in Waitara by the 5.30 p.m. train yesterday, being met at the station by 'the Mayor and a large number of townspeople, who gave him a hearty welcome home. The Band was in attendance, and played "Home, Sweet Home" as the train drew into the station. The Mayor addressed a few words of welcome to the returned trooper on behalf of the town and district, and cheers were given for Private Soft'e, his parents, and the King. Although the Patriotic Committee decided that departing members of the reinforcements should not be entertained socially, the committee who were responsible for tendering socials prior to the Patriotic Committee deciding to assume charge, intend to entertain the men in the Clifton Hall 011 Friday evening next, and they extend a cordial invitation to all members of the Tenth Reinforcements, and all those home on sick leave to be present.
