WITH THE NINTH AT TAUHBRT. NIKAU. Writes a Taranaki member of thS N T inth:—■ The -Nintli Reinforcements had their first experience of rough weather under canvas on the night of the sth inat., when a heavy storm of wind and rain swept through the camp, accompanied by thunder and lightning. A good many of the tents have seen fairly long eerl ice, and although there were many •instances of leaks and wet beds in the morning, complaints were rare, the men recognising that everything was done for their comfort that was possible under the circumstances. Owing to Are trenches under hot water tanks filled with water there was no hot ten or coffee as usual for breakfast, but "are we down-hearted? No!" The weather cleared up, and the value of the gravel subsoil was demonstrated by the' rapidity with which the camp dried up. .In the afternoon there was a short route march, which quite revived the spirits of the men. On Sunday afternoon men were paraded for typhoid inoculation, which, considering the numbers dealt wii.li, was put through very quickly, though as units are taken in the alphabet leal order of their names, those low down had a long wait. Monday morninfe was again wet and stormy, with very strong westerly gales. Nothing was doing much in the morning except about an hour's musketry instruction, and in the afternoon, the rain having stopped, though the wind was blowing, great guni, there was another short route march to the Featherston Racecourse (U)d through the pretty bush at the back. The Taranaki Daily News reaches us regularly now, and is m great request amongst the Ta,ranakifuis.

lhc dairy industry is well represented m E Company, and your White-Cliff readers will be interested to hear that their late factory manager (Mr, J. Waters) is in good health, and will not "be surprised to hear that he is regarded as a picked man in liis platoon.
